The ABC's Of Affiliate Marketing

Do you understand affiliate marketing? Many internet
marketers do and many more join programs as an affiliate
and never make any money. They would have to be classified
as people who do not understand what it is. Let's run
through the ABC's of affiliate marketing and what you must
have to make money doing it.

Affiliate marketing is a way for merchants to sell their
products. As an affiliate you get paid to sell stuff for
them. Mostly it is done online, but you could use the
internet to complement your offline sales as well. The
products that are sold include advertising clicks, leads,
physical products, information products, services,
memberships, and almost anything a person would want to
buy. Companies will let you sign up as an affiliate to sell
their products. When you make a sale you earn a commission.
It could be a set rate or a percentage as explained in the
affiliate agreement.

We are talking about being able to make some pretty serious
money. There are people who earn 6 figure income and quit
their jobs just by selling other people's products. This
can be done via a blog, email marketing, your website,
newsletters, business cards, classified and solo ads, and
so on. Driving traffic to a blog or website is the most
common. One problem many people make is that they use the
company provided replicated website and try to make sales
using it. The problem with that is your site looks just
like several thousand other affiliates. It is to your
advantage to get your own website or blog and use it
whenever you can.

Many times a person decides to become an affiliate, but
they do not know what to sell. This is understandable as
there are millions of products to choose from. My advice is
to start with a product or niche market that you enjoy or
know something about. The most successful affiliates brand
themselves as experts on what they sell. You can do that
too and it is going to be easier to become an expert on
something you already are familiar with. Along those same
lines the best affiliate marketers own the products they
sell. Think how much more convincing it is to sell
something you can give a first hand testimonial on.

Here is another basic step that many affiliate miss. Get
your own domain name. Many affiliate urls are long and
bulky and do not look professional. You can buy a domain
name for one year for about $10. When you pick one try and
get some of the keywords your product is about in the name.
If you are selling baseball bats choose something like
best-baseball-bats-around or something like that. The dot
com version of a domain name is still the best way to go if
you can, but if you want a certain word and it is available
in dot net, dot biz, or others then go ahead and buy it.

Hosting for your website or blog is the next step in
getting ready to make money as an affiliate. This is not an
area to save a few pennies. Your income depends on your
website being live and ready when someone wants to see it.
Hosting that is down a lot is bad for your business. Take
your time and get a few references here. Do it right one
time and your business will thank you later. Do you know
how to build a website? Most people do not and for that
reason you may want to hire someone to do it for you.
Another popular thing is to start a blog and use it as your
website. This is great because they are easy to set up and
all you have to do is be able to type and click on buttons
to create a web page with your blog post. Blogger.com can
be hosted by Google for you, or a good platform kike
WordPress can be hosted by you and set up for less than $50
by a quality blog builder.

Getting traffic to your site is the last step and you will
want to research as many free or nearly free advertising
methods you can. This would include blogging, article
writing, social networking, and others.

This is the ABC's of affiliate marketing. It will take some
time to put what you learn into practice, but the key is to
get started and learn as you go.

How Often Should You Post In Your Blog

How soon after you start a blog until it begins to become
work to keep it up? We all lead busy lives, and unless you
blog full time for a living, keeping your blog current can
be a real chore some time. So here is one of the most asked
questions when it comes to blogging.

How often should I post in my blog? Another way to put it
is how little can I get away with posting! This is why it
is so important to start a blog on a theme that you have a
passion for or an expertise in.

It never seems like work if you enjoy it. But even that can
not make up for the time it takes to blog on a regular
basis. If you are busy with your life blogging can be easy
to forget.

I looked at the blogs of 3 famous internet marketing gurus.
Ewen Chia, Rosalind Gardner, and Darren Rouse. Ewen is the
top affiliate in just about every program he is in.
Rosalind is the author of "The Super Affiliate Handbook"
and earns big bucks with affiliate marketing, and Darren is
the owner of ProBlogger.net, the most visited blog on the
internet.

At EwenChia.com we find a landing page that promotes a free
ebook if you sign up for it. He is capturing names and
following up from that. But he also has a couple of
prominent links to his blog. When you go to it you see he
has not posted a new article in almost 2 months.

WOW that is amazing to me. If blogging is so important how
is he #1 in all of the programs.

Next we look at Rosalind Gardners' Netprofits.com blog. Her
website is a full blown portal site about internet
marketing and affiliate marketing. Her blog is linked off
of her home page and is updated fairly regularly.

It looks like she posts when she has something to offer.
Usually about 2-3 times a week. This is much better, but it
is still not daily or even several times a day.

Darren owns Problogger.net which is an authority blog on
the topic of blogging. He incorporates material on blogging
and making money among other things. He post several
articles per day to his blog. When he goes on vacation or
is going to be off for a while he always has a guest
blogger.

Here is what is would guess about these 3 brilliant
marketers.

- Ewen relies on pay per click advertising and only blogs
to support what he teaches in the internet marketing
material he sells. He is a master of getting traffic in
other ways besides blogging or even article marketing.

- Rosalind is big on pay per click advertising as well. She
blogs to build her list and keep it informed about what is
going on. Her blog is high traffic because she does not do
much email marketing other than to refer people to a blog
post he made. She probably has a very large mailing list
that subscribes to her newsletter.

- Darren blogs and blogs and blogs. It is what he does and
what he is known for. His traffic is there to learn how to
blog and make money blogging. He has a very impressive blog
as you would expect.

So what does that mean to you and how often should you
should post in your blog? It depends on the type of blog
you have.

For sure if your blog is a large part of you business you
need to blog several time per week. If it is a new blog you
should blog daily or more often to start. Then you can blog
less often after that. Maybe even weekly or a couple of
times per week.

If you get traffic to your website from ways other than
blogging than you can get away with posting weekly or even
a couple of times per month. You just need to post some
when you have something to say.

The answer to this question really comes down to the type
of blog you have, how old it is, and how you use it. I
still say that if your blog is on a theme that you have a
passion for you will blog on a consistent basis because it
is fun to do. And that will be often enough.

How to Promote Your Online Home Business Opportunity

Are you looking for an online home business opportunity?
If you are mulling this thought over in you mind, then you
may want consider the following tips:

1.) Preliminary research – Before you even attempt to set
up your own website, you should do some extensive research
on your part. If you want to find out what you will be
competing against, then do a search on some of the main
search engines. You should not mind some competition
because that shows a healthy demand for your product or
service. An extensive keyword list must be developed. If
you try to promote something that is not in demand that is
like trying to paddle upstream without the paddle!

2.) SEO and website creation – One you know that the demand
for your product or service it out there and you will have
a healthy amount of competition, then the next step in your
online home business opportunity is to create a website.
You may wish to build your website around your keywords and
SEO. You also want to make sure that you have great
content around your topic. This is one of the essential
building blocks of a good website and should be updated on
a regular basis.

3.) You should put a lot of thought into a domain name
making sure it makes sense and tells the story of what you
website is all about.

4.) When you have gotten together various website
descriptions then you should submit this to the directories
along with your keywords.

5.) If you have a flair for writing, then you can write and
submit articles that are relevant to your topic. You will
gain some much needed traffic, the attention of some of the
search engines, and some one way links.

6.) Social bookmarking – This is a very valuable
promotional tool. Do some research on this topic to find
out how it may benefit your business.

7.) Forums – This may be helpful to you, but be sure not to
violate any rules. Do not get too bogged down with forums
and have it eat up your precious time.

8.) Viral report – Write a free report and make it relevant
to topic that is found in your website. Make sure that a
link is available to take the person to your website.

9.) Create a blog – You can either have this on your
website, or if you go to blogger.com, you can create your
very own blog for free. Make sure that you continually
update it.

10.) Brainstorm and make a list of everything that you can
put your URL on. You can have business cards made for you
with your URL on them. Make sure you pass them out and not
keep them stuffed in your pocket!

As you can see, having an online home business opportunity
takes a lot of preparation. It is not something that you
just start willy-nilly! When you find something that is
just up your alley, then run with it. The sooner you begin
your online home business opportunity, the more fulfilled
you will be and the sooner you can begin making money!

How to Make Raving Fans of Your Clients (and Create Your Best Referral Partners)

Word-of-mouth referral is one of the best strategies to
employ to keep your service business full. The best way to
manifest these referrals is by creating "cheerleader
clients", or those clients who think you're the greatest
thing since sliced bread and eagerly and enthusiastically
tell everyone they meet about you and your services.

The one trait that all of my clients seem to have in common
is a sincere desire to help others. They're all fairly well
connected, and when someone in their networking circle
talks about their frustrations with their Internet
marketing efforts, my client recommends me right away. Not
all of the referrals are ones that I take, as many times I
don't have the time to take on another client or I don't
think it's a good fit for some reason, and I refer them on.
The part I do play in this referral piece, however, is in
how I treat my clients, which makes them enthusiastic about
working with me and willing to tell everyone they know
about me.

The traits I possess that turn my clients into "raving
fans" are:

1. Being in a true long-term collaborative partnership
with my clients. I've gotten to know them and their
businesses well and serve as another set of eyes and ears
for them. Anytime that I am reading something that I think
one of them might use, I forward it to that client, with a
"I thought you might be interested" note attached. I
occasionally even do this for clients with whom I'm no
longer working.

2. Practicing the "Golden Rule". I treat my clients the
way I would want to be treated as a business owner, which
means if I know of a better/cheaper/faster way of doing
something, I tell them about it. The final decision still
belongs to my client, but I know I have saved my clients
lots of time and money over the years and earned their
undying gratitude in the process.

3. Taking initiative in my relationship with clients. I'm
an INFP in Myers-Briggs terms, which means I'm a big
picture person. Seeing what comes next as a natural
progression of things comes very easily to me, and this
gift enables me to help my clients clearly map out the road
ahead. Keeping my clients organized and accountable is of
great benefit to them, and having discussions about what
comes next helps them in their planning processes.

4. Never telling my clients "no". If my client asks me to
do something and I either don't have time to do it or don't
how to do it, I try not to counter with a "no" but instead
with an option of a later time to do something, another
resource they can use to get it down, or an offer to use my
contacts to find out how to get it done. To the point that
you're able, try to never tell a client "no".

5. Being an expert problem-solver and idea generator. One
of the things I love to do is brainstorm with my clients,
and I tell them that I'm not offended if they don't take my
ideas if they're not offended that I keep offering them.
Over the years, I've probably had as many ideas rejected as
accepted, but it continues to be a fun experience for me,
and my clients benefit as well.

6. Playing to my gifts and talents. I've come to realize
that there are things I absolutely love to do as a coach
and an online business manager -- anything to do with
Internet marketing and writing, along with the opportunity
to solve problems and generate ideas. I stick with what I
do well and what I enjoy, and that's where I shine with the
client, so the payoff for me comes when the clients refer
me to friends like themselves who need very results for
their businesses. It's like a never-ending circle of
referrals for me, and who can argue with that?

To create your own cheerleader clients, ask your clients
who absolutely adore you to send out a letter to their
contact database. Offer to draft this letter, outlining the
benefits that the client has experienced as a result of
working with you and how his/her business or life has
changed as a result. You ask the client to sign off on the
letter and to provide his/her contact database, and you pay
for the printing, sending, and mailing of the letter. This
has worked extraordinarily well with colleagues of mine,
and I think you'll begin to see the magic happen if you
request this of your clients.

Static Authority Sites vs Dynamic Authority Sites

Which way to go? What to read? In today's world each and
every topic needs some research. We need to have good
information and perfect facts about every hard and soft
news floated. By static authority sites we mean the sites
in which the information always remain static and never
change. We can compare a static authority site to a news
paper. Like once news printed cannot be changed,
information in a static authority website once published
can never be changed till next edition just like a
newspaper and book.

On the other hand when we talk about dynamic authority
sites we talk of those websites which are free and have a
free flow of information. The dynamic authority websites
use programming in addition to the layout to not only allow
the flow of data in and out but to make a very meaningful
and fruitful relation with the data. An online business
directory allows all types of businessmen to open up their
profiles and allow them to sign up. Individual can make
their own profiles and carry on business through web.
Visitors to the site may sign in to the website and search
for all the information they need.

The dynamic authority websites empower individuals with the
ability to upload their views in reference to the context.
This facility is not available in static authority
websites. These web sites do not allow individuals to
upload their ideas and views in the sites. Visitors can
read through the information but no personal views can be
presented in these types of sites.

We can further look into the financials aspects when
launching such sites. If the business is small then it is
good to go for static authority websites. And if there are
not a lot of products to display then people can go for
static authority websites. But if there is a big business
to launch and has a lot of information to offer then one
can go for dynamic authority websites. Dynamic sites offer
a whole host of direct and related information as well as
allow visitors to give their own angle and opinion creating
a two-way flow or share of information.

A simple example of this choice would help you understand
the difference better. If you want to book or rent a small
house you can go for the static authority website where you
can get some area specific information about the price,
options and contact information. But if you want multiple
options and want to go through your house hunting process
with a real estate broker then it is better to opt for a
dynamic authority website which will have multi-layered
information and databases to match your search.

In order to be better profiled for your online business,
and get the best results from your Internet marketing
strategies, opt for a dynamic site. It gives a
comprehensive feel to your content and since it is
reciprocal in nature, it goes a long way to make your site
an authority website.

Emerald Passport Business Review

I am not going to get really flowery as this is just a
simple Business Review Of Emerald Passport or A.k.a. EPI.
With the ever growing trend of internet marketing and home
business Opportunities is EPI a viable option? How do they
stack up with other programs? Hence this review!

Who are they?

Emerald Passport International or EPI for short, has been
around for about four years and has been reasonably
successful. EPI's attraction is their marketing movie which
they claim screens out the uninterested prospects before
you speak to them. What is unique is that the movie
presentation is interchangeable to address specific
marketing needs and goals. The only downside to that is
that it is a replicated sight and there is still some level
of saturation even if it is modified to a certain degree.

What do they offer?

The products offered are prodominetly Real estate courses,
personal development referred to as the Self Module, Forex
Trading, and Financial Planning. These are the same
products that you would be offering, should one join this
program.

The Compensation

Emerald Passport is a 2 up program, meaning that you pass
over your first 2 sales to your sponsor and then the third
one is yours to keep. This is something to seriously
consider, as you are actually out a lot more money than the
initial sign up. Losing your first 2 commissions and the
cost of marketing and fees' incurred for simply running an
online business add up to a lot more than just the initial
sign up fee. The basic level to get started is $1295
followed up by two upper level conferences that cost $8000
and $13,000. Their conferences geared toward self
development have remained a bit of a mystery as they are
always held in Panama.

In conclusion, Emerald Passport has decent products to
offer but with the program costing so much to get in and
having to give up your first 2 sales I wouldn't recommend
it for the beginner who has never done marketing. Two up
programs easily discourage the beginner because they are
not seeing instant payouts . Another really big concern
would be that they are based in Panama (which is something
to consider in the way of any kind of refunds). As far as
how they stack up in comparison to other 1 or 2 up
programs? Their high cost program, coupled with the fact
several of the products can be purchased in several other
programs for cheaper. There is not a lot of bang for your
buck. However, If you have been in the marketing arena for
any length of time and have been successful, then you might
consider EPI for their high payout in commissions.

They Were Lined Up Out The Door Waiting To Pay Me...

Wouldn't it be great to get to work one day and have that
problem! The key to producing this "terrible" business
situation on demand may be closer than you think.

Many entrepreneurs start their businesses because they see
a problem that they believe that they can fix. For example,
Sam Walton founded the hugely successful Walmart franchise
because he realized that people would purchase things in
larger amounts if they didn't have to pay as much, and that
concept lead to his enormous success.

You may be thinking "Well that's just great for Sam Walton,
but what about me? I've probably missed solving all the
really profitable problems, and I might not know how to
solve them even if I knew what they were." Well, there is
good news! You don't need to resolve an enormous issue to
make a mint – you just have to target people whose issues
are not yet being addressed.

A group of people that have a certain set of needs are
called a niche. For example, there are a lot of people in
the world who are interested in real estate investing. It
would be hard to address every single one of their needs
with one product. If you tried, you would probably end up
pleasing no one. However, by focusing on the needs of one
specific group of people – for example, real estate
investors who are interested in short sales or construction
contractors who are interested in real estate investing –
you can answer all the needs of a particular sub-group.

Many people stop right there, thinking "that would be great
but I don't have any special knowledge that will let me
find a niche like that." They are focusing on the wrong
thing entirely. The idea is not to teach them yourself –
the idea is to help them find the things that they need to
do the things that have to do with their particular
interests!

Smart business people realize that their businesses will be
most successful if they rely on their strengths, and that
sometimes a strength can be something as simple as knowing
what people want, then helping them get it – and that kind
of simple, straightforward action has the potential to net
you the biggest, easiest profits of all. By focusing on a
small group of people that have been underserved in the
past, you can create a devoted market that will wait for
your next move eagerly and literally beg to pay your for
your services.

How to Find Your Online Niche

To the casual observer, the internet looks like it already
has every topic covered. But that's certainly not the
case. When you're trying to figure out what you might be
able to do as a home based internet business, your first
job is to find out what people are looking for on the
internet, but not finding to their satisfaction. This is
called finding your niche, or your place in the sea of
websites and business. And while it sounds like an
impossible task, this is certainly not the case when you
follow this advice.

The trick with finding your niche is that you need to be as
specific as possible about what you are going to sell and
promote. When you choose something too big (i.e. coffee),
you will definitely become lost in the shuffle of the
others around you. But if you specialize more (i.e. coffee
that's organic), you will address an interested audience.

What Do You Already Enjoy and Know About?

Sometimes, finding your niche is as easy as finding out
what you already want to do. Let's take the example of
beauty products. If you already enjoy makeup, for
instance, and want to make a living out of it, it might be
easy to think that you're going to get lost in the sea of
beauty product sites on the web. But the intimate
knowledge that you already have is actually going to work
to your advantage. For example, if you like beauty
products, but can't seem to find a certain kind of product
– that might be your niche to explore. Think like the
customer because you are a customer too. Come up with a
list of things that you shop for on in the internet and
then figure out what's missing from the online market.

You might also want to create an internet based business
using the skills and the training you already have – since
you're the veritable expert in what customers will want.

What are Other People Asking For?

While you can't talk to everyone on the internet, you can
look to see what their saying. Just head to chat rooms
that are related to the market you want to target and then
look around to see what people are complaining about. You
can even internet with these potential customers by
becoming a regular post maker on the boards. You might
also want to go to forums that address your target audience
(i.e. expectant mothers if you want to sell baby clothing)
and see what those people are saying. Take notes and begin
to hone the focus of your business.

Multiple Markets or Just a Single Market?

If you've done your research and found several different
markets in which you might be able to start your business,
the next question is whether or not you want to tackle all
of these markets or just attend to one. In the beginning,
the best idea is to start with one market at a time to
learn the 'ropes' and to find out what you need to do as a
business person. You need to be able to focus all of your
attention to this one market until it becomes profitable.
In many cases, the specialization of one market may even be
more profitable than delving into multiple markets anyway.

In the end, your niche needs to be something that addresses
a problem or a concern a customer is having and that they
will continue to have in later years – that's what creates
success. But there area plenty of open niches available
for you – all you need to do is pick one.

MLM Matrix Pay Plans - Do They Work?

Have you joined MLM Companies hoping to get spillover?
Maybe you saw an ad promising huge spillover if you joined
right away. I have to be honest; I have joined many many
programs like that thinking that I was going to get
spillover from my upline's efforts.

Guess what? I was disappointed every time I joined with
such an intention. Not because I didn't get any spillover,
many times I got plenty of spillover, but I didn't make any
significant amounts of money. Why? Because there was only
so much my upline could do for me, they could only put so
many people under me, and they could not qualify me to earn
at higher pay levels. In the end, it depended on me to
continue the growth. I won't get into the details of how
Matrix Pay Plans and Spillover works, I will assume here
that you are familiar with the concepts.

What I want to emphasize here is that no company in its
right mind, MLM or not MLM, will pay you for doing nothing.
The compensation plans are designed to reward those who
generate business. Companies can only afford to pay those
individuals who create growth for the company; otherwise,
they will not last very long. So if I join a MLM company
with the hopes of making money by not doing anything, I am
not going to earn much. I may receive some small checks,
but nothing to get excited about.

I am sure there are people who will argue that there are
opportunities out there that have no sponsoring
requirements, all you have to do is sign up and make money
with them. Well, all I have to say to that is that they
won't last. It simply doesn't make business sense. Why
would someone want to pay you for doing nothing?

So when people don't make money in a Matrix Plan by
depending on spillover, it is not the Matrix Pay Plan
that's failing, it is the individual that's failing,
because of the do-nothing-and-make-money attitude.

The Matrix Pay Plan is an excellent concept if approached
with reasonable expectations and promoted responsibly by
Network Marketers. By allowing you to put only a fixed
number of people on each level, you are forced to help your
downline grow. More teamwork is created and relationships
are formed. Fixed number of people on each level also helps
you build deep, and building deep means more long-term
security for you, your upline and your downline.

Matrix Pay Plans make it easy to teach duplication to your
downline. If just 2 people are allowed on your first level,
then you can teach everyone in your downline to get their 2
and then help the people under them to get their 2 and so
on. Spillover from all the activity can help speed up the
growth and create momentum for the whole team.

As long as you don't get into a MLM opportunity that uses a
Matrix Pay Plan with the expectation of making a fortune
without doing any real work, you will find this type of a
Pay Plan to be a great way to build a team that works
together to produce long-term residual income.

What Information Marketers Should Know About Merchant Accounts

If you're involved in marketing information products
on-line then there's no disputing the need for you to
accept credit cards in order to increase your overall
sales. Typically in a retail environment your sales will
increase anywhere from 15 to 40% when you have the ability
to accept credit cards. This article is part 1 in a series
of what information marketers should know about merchant
accounts.

Visa and MasterCard account for over 90% of all credit card
transactions, so the acceptance of those two card types is
mandatory. Amex and Discover are the other two significant
players, but account for only 5-7% of the market. If
you're selling higher priced information products
acceptance of Amex is highly recommended.

There are four primary components involved in the
processing of credit cards. The first is the actual card
issuing entity, be it Visa, MasterCard, or other. The
second is the company that sets you up to be able to accept
credit cards, which is called the Merchant Account
Provider. The third component needed for online processing
of cards is a payment gateway, such as Authorize.net or
Plug 'n Pay. And the fourth is your online shopping cart
system. All are required to do business on the Internet.

When a new information marketer applies for a merchant
account the primary thing the merchant account provider is
looking at is the personal credit of the requestor. The
underwriters for the company will be looking to see if you
pay your bills on time first and foremost. Then they'll be
looking to see if you own real estate. In the processing
industry, owning real estate and having decent credit says
to them this is a stable merchant.

Another big component of the underwriting process is your
refund warranty policy. What type of refund policy are you
giving? From the viewpoint of the merchant account
provider the longer the guarantee period the less desirable
it is. Why? Because it stretches out the risk of a refund
even longer. The greater the length of potential liability
the increased chances there are for a chargeback of the
sale.

There can be many different reasons for a chargeback, but
the bottom line is the customer is saying they don't agree
with something regarding that transaction. It could range
from the product not being received to the wrong product
received, to the product not being as described to any
number of other reasons.

Chargebacks can typically be made anytime from six months
up to a year. In fact, on international sales there are
some regions that may allow customers up to a year and a
half to request a chargeback on a purchase. Next
