Cash gifting is a perfecting legal entity. At its edifice
lies the basic principle that it is relationship driven. As
concept cash gifting has been in vogue for quite a long
time and has been patronized by private group of
individuals. Cash gifting does not involve network
marketing, entering into a business or a commercial
activity or being a part of the multi-level marketing. Cash
gifting is based upon the fact that both the American and
the Canadian citizens have been given the rights by their
respective constitutions to gift property, cash, and other
assets and are governed by rules and regulations
established by laws.

Cash gifting has been dealt in detail in the IRS Tax Code.
As per the provisions of the law one or more individual can
give a gift to another individual of up to $11000 each in a
calendar year. He need not pay any tax on cash gifting as
well, either to the government or to the receiver of the
gift as the tax on the gift has already been paid. Cash
gifting came into vogue as an expression of kindness and
has now evolved over the years. The proponents of the
Internet have now adopted it and it has gained ground all
over. In the earlier times the gift givers were those who
were having surplus cash, and now the mentors, who pave the
way for creating cash, have replaced them. So they are cash
gifting mostly in kind, by paving the way for the person to
chart out on the path to making money. There are instances
where processes of cash gifting have been ripped of and
somebody else's product has been passed on as somebody
else's. But when it has been caught, the impersonator has
faced serious rebuttal.

The present avatar of cash gifting is guided by the old
maxim, "Give and it shall be given unto you". The process
of cash gifting has a cycle and it passed from the giving
to the receiving stage in a natural progression. Cash
gifting as a process does not have a hierarchy and
therefore it does not get involved in any legal processes.
It is the activities associated with hierarchies that
create problems. The cash gifting works through an online
tracking system and has the tentacles that operate on a
worldwide basis, riding on the nodes of the World Wide Web.
It is based on the principle of faith in the humanity.

Of Hares and Tortoises and Search Engine Marketing
The PPC Hare v the Organic Tortoise..

The fable of the hare and tortoise is known by most people,
but it has parallels in the world of the Internet,
specifically in the area of Search Engine Marketing.

Search Engine Marketing covers all the ways by which a
website can be made more visible in the listings provided
by the engines in response to a request for pages relating
to a search phrase. This of course covers the areas on "Pay
Per Click" (PPC) and that of "Organic" or "Merit" listings,
the latter of course being free.

It is PPC that makes Google almost all of its money, and is
an area used by many website owners to ensure that their
site is visible and gains that all important traffic.

But what has this got to do with tortoises and hares??

The relationship is quite simple really, in that PPC is
very much a "hare" (gets a website on the front page very
fast) while Organic listings can take a long time, and are
thus very "tortoise like".

In this little story we can take the analogy even further,
but first, let us make the rules for the race. In the
original fable, it was just a straight run to a finishing
post, but in the world of Search Engine Marketing it is
slightly different, the race not being one to get a
website's listing on the front page of Google (such a race
will always be won by the PPC hare), but instead to the
chequered flag that marks a successful Return on
Investment....

Why is this the case you ask, quite simply because being
first on PPC is not always the answer, as you will see as
the story unfolds.

To the Race !!

Picture if you can the starting line, there is the hare
with a sack load of money that he intends to pay to anyone
who will visit the site while on the run to the finishing
post, whilst the poor old tortoise has got his soap box
out, knowing that he will have to do a lot of talking to
people, asking them to support his site (by links).

Worse still, the tortoise cannot even take the shortest
path to the finishing line, as he will have to go out of
his way to visit as many other sites as possible in his
quest for support. To make matters even worse, he knows
that even when he does get "support", it will take the
umpires (the Search Engines) quite a time before they will
"notice" and thus make his climb to the front page of the
listings and his goal of getting a good ROI on his labours
even more difficult and long...

It is no surprise therefore that when the hare streaks off,
the visits to the site pour in just as fast as he can throw
the money out, but wait, is this really the idea, surely
you have to make sure that the right person is visiting?
Asking these questions (in the SEM world this equates to
choosing the right key phrases) slows the hare down quite a
bit, but he is not worried as he knows that the tortoise is
going to have the same problem, so off he goes.

The tortoise's journey is much slower, he has to take a
longer path and do a lot of work to get people to notice
him and his requests for support, he even has to make sure
that the words he uses (in the SEM world this equates to
those on the web page) are used in the right way, as
otherwise he knows that the umpires will disallow his gains.

Thus it takes a long time before the pages that the
tortoise is working on get onto the front page of Google.
The hare has of course had his pages listed on the front
page ever since the race started, but he has gone through a
lot of money buying in those visits and it took longer to
get to the end than he thought it would too.

So who won?

Unlike the fable, in the SEM world, the winner is not so
certain, you see, PPC can work very well indeed (when
managed properly and the "right" words chosen, something
that can take quite a while to sort out). But however
successful the PPC campaign is, it will in 99% of cases not
be as good at converting visitors to buyers as a well
constructed Organic campaign, so while you may get lots of
visits you may well end up like the hare, a bit short of
cash.

The morale of the story?

By all means, do use the "hare" approach, but be aware of
the dangers of PPC, always remembering that those that
click on PPC ads seem not, it seems, to be so committed to
purchase or enquire as those who click on the Organic
listings. So go for PPC by all means, but don't please
don't forget the tortoise, after all he won in the original
fable...

When I first went into business for myself seven years ago
as a marketing and public relations consultant, I struggled
with setting my fees. Even though I had been making a good
salary working for someone else in this capacity, at first
I found it difficult to set my fees at what they truly were
worth.

Then I learned about "dollarizing" (a topic for another
article) and about looking at the results that I was
creating for my clients. I also had to build my confidence
and comfortability in telling prospective clients what my
fees were without stammering... :)

I don't struggle with this anymore, for a few reasons. One
reason is because I KNOW what a difference I can and do
make in my client's business. And another reason is that I
have loads of clients, past and present, who continue to
TELL me what a difference I've made for them in their
business. Both of these have helped to build my confidence
and comfortability factors in setting my rates.

Now it's easy for me to say that my coaching rates are $350
an hour, or that a private mentorship with me starts at
$5000. Obviously that means I have fewer clients than I did
when I was charging $350 a month (as opposed to an hour),
but it also means I work one-on-one a lot less, which frees
up an incredible amount of time for me to with with as I
please.

And, by packaging my knowledge into information products, I
actually help MORE people now than ever before, and I love
that!

Now, my business has gone through more than one iteration
over the last seven years, so I don't want to give the
impression that this happened quickly for me, because it
didn't. But it could happen for you a lot faster if you
implement some of the tips I've given you here:

1. Consider yourself the expert.

Why wait for someone else to crown you something?
Seriously, if you didn't think you knew what you were
doing, you wouldn't have taken the leap into
entrepreneurship. So make yourself the expert and put
yourself out there as such.

Why? Because you'll build credibility faster, your name
will be the one that comes to mind when people are in need
of what you offer, and because it will allow you to command
higher fees that people are willing to pay.

People want to hire someone who is an expert in solving
their problem. For example, I started out as a generalist
in marketing and public relations (and web development),
and I did ok money-wise as such. Then I started focusing on
working with entrepreneurs in marketing their business, and
financially I did better. Now I focus on online marketing
for a specific niche (solo service professionals) using the
multiple streams marketing and product funnel model, and my
client base and income has increased exponentially! My
business is also a lot easier and much more fun!

2. Increase your income by increasing your fees.

Like I did, most of my clients struggle with this issue at
first. It's normal. They're afraid of losing clients (they
will), and of charging themselves out of their market (they
won't). But, among other things, I encourage them to
remember that if they charge more, they don't need as many
clients, and by having less clients, they will have more
time and freedom to do the things they enjoy (and even more
so if they create products to offer to their niche - see
#3).

If there's still resistance, I suggest that any new clients
they accept, they do so at their new higher rate, and keep
their current clients at their old rate.

3. Package what you know.

Stop trading time for money and start packaging what you
know. By this I mean creating information products that you
can sell to your niche that helps them solve their problem
at a much lower rate than working with you one-on-one.

This has made a huge difference for me particularly since
the birth of my daughter and more recently my son. Creating
products for my niche helps me to continue to bring in the
revenue I "lost" by not taking on any new one-on-one
clients while I raise my children.

There are many ways to leverage your time and talent, but
these three will get you started in the right direction to
building a more satisfying business for you ~ one that
gives you the freedom to enjoy both your work and your life.

I once worked with an advertising agency that came up with
a fantastic web site for a new drink: Silver Arrow I seem
to remember. It was an amazing site and won loads of awards
like the Food and Beverage 2000, but do you see the drink
on the shelves? No. It was up against world leading brands,
but do you ever remember seeing a TV advert or hearing
about it on the radio? I can't.

So what was the point? I doubt that the drink manufacturer
was too happy about spending a vast amount of money on
product development and a web site campaign that didn't go
anywhere. And nor would you be.

So how much have you spent on your web site? And if you're
just about to start out, how much should you spend?

Because at the end of the day, your site is or will be
completely worthless if no-one visits it. Why bother? Why
not put your product in your local shop and just take the
margin. At least there's a chance that someone will walk in

they're only looking for a loaf of bread!

Create a Powerful Vision
In the Client Abundance coaching programs, we work on
implementing several strategies that are designed to PULL
your business forward, almost effortlessly. One of those
strategies is creating a powerful vision for your business.
My private clients have found this exercise to be both
motivating and inspiring, and I'm certain you will too.

Once a year, I take a short retreat to work on revising my
vision for my business (and my life). This is an annual
break I take away from my business (but with my family,
although some of my clients prefer to go it alone, which is
perfectly fine) to really think about and decide what I
want the next 1 to 3 years to look like. I write my vision
and I create a whole bunch of goals for my business. I also
use this time to talk with my husband about my vision and
goals. He is a great sounding board for all the ideas I
come up with... and we usually have this conversation while
hanging out on the beach... :)

Being near the water definitely has some powerfully
positive effects on my brain, and I always come away from
this retreat with a renewed sense of energy and passion for
my work.

Creating a powerful vision is your first step on your path
to achieving your own business success. Knowing where you
are going will make the journey that much easier and
faster, as well as simply more enjoyable. So, let's get
started...

Step 1: Book your retreat Book a 2-3 day retreat so that
you can work intensively on your detailed 1 to 3 year
vision. Get a very clear picture of where you intend to be
3 years from now. Book the time to do this. Make the

questions: What do you want your life to look like in 3

a week? Inviting? This is not a dream - it is achievable.
It won't happen overnight, but - with some planning and

years' time and looking back over the previous 36 months,
what would have to have happened to you both personally and
professionally for you to be satisfied with your progress?"

A few notes:

You don't have to go (far) away to go on your retreat. Go
wherever you feel most creative and inspired, and where you
are least likely to be interrupted.

Some people think and write better in silence, while others
think and write better when there is a lot going on around
them. Choose whatever works for you.

Before you begin to write, close your eyes and really see
in your mind's eye how you want your entire life to be. For
example, see your dream home. Is it a large home or
something more cozy? Do you live on the ocean or near the
mountains? Or are you in a fantastic apartment in the
middle of NYC? Write about it in detail - and don't hold
back!

Do the same for your business: Do you want a waiting list
of clients? Or do you want to stop working one-on-one and
move to working with groups only? Do you want to implement
at least three new streams of income? Do you want to write
your first print book? Do this for all the other parts of
your life as well - for the tangible things (like your
home, your car, your vacations, etc.) to the intangible
(like who you want in your life, how you will give back,
etc.).

Get the picture? Once you have written your vision, I
promise you'll be really excited and motivated towards
making that vision your reality!
