How You Can Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

How You Can Make Money With Affiliate Marketing
If you have spent any time online trying to find ways to
make money with a home business you have come across the
phrase affiliate marketing. The short definition of
affiliate marketing is getting paid to sell other people's
products.

This is great for people who do not know what to sell or
who do not have their own product. Perhaps that might be
you. Let's look closer at this multi billion dollar
industry.

With affiliate marketing you earn money by selling other
people's stuff. Rosalind Gardner once wrote a book about
how she made over $435,000 selling other people's stuff.
That was several years ago and she did it right from her
home in Canada.

There are millions of products you can do this with. For
example, many businesses offer an affiliate program that
you can make sales for them and make money doing it. There
is virtually no industry anywhere in the world that does
not have an affiliate program.

Here is how affiliate marketing works.

To get credit for a sale you need to join as an affiliate
for the company providing the product. You will get your
own website that contains your affiliate id number. When
someone purchases a product on your website you are given
credit for that sale and earn a commission for it.

You can get paid by check, direct deposit, or through a
payment processor like PayPal. PayPal can be used to send
and receive payments online. It is free for consumers, and
works seamlessly with your existing credit card and current
account.

How much you earn is dependent on the commission rate.
Selling information products online, for example through
Clickbank, you can earn up to 75% of the sale prices.

It depends on each individual merchant on how they will pay
for you. Some companies calculate your earnings monthly
and pay you sometime during the following month. Some of
them will figure how much you have earned every month and
then pay you the next month. Your earnings could come
anytime in that next month.

Google offers an affiliate program called Adsense. They
will pay you by check or direct deposit for placing
javascript on your website. The script matches the theme of
your web page with Google advertisers and you get paid when
people click on ads. It is very easy money to make.

The key to affiliate marketing is to find good products
that are in demand and then fill that demand with a company
provided website.

Health, Wealth and Happiness – This Author’s View

Health, Wealth and Happiness – This Author’s View
By now there must have been millions of column inches
written about how to work from home and make a good living
without having to deal with commuting, bosses, office
politics, stress, overtime etc.

New opportunities appear at every turn; they come in by
email, snail mail and even to my mobile phone. There are
also whole shelves of magazines available at the
newsagent’s covering a myriad of money-making topics.
Each time a new opportunity presents itself it promises to
be “The One”. The one that will make me so
rich I can sack my boss; or will enable me to live on a
Caribbean beach with just my laptop for company (to count
the money with I guess); or even one that I would have to
do nothing for in exchange for a mailbox full of cheques.

Like a lot of people, I became what is known in the trade
as an information junkie; someone who spends time and
sometimes significant amounts of money on manuals, books,
courses and seminars. Most I have found interesting, some
I could even envisage making money from if pursued. But
while it may be obvious how a business could make money, I
now look back and ask myself “would I have made money
doing that?”

Now it has to be said that one or two of the opportunities
I have investigated have gone on to make me money. In fact,
a property search business that I set up as a result of
attending a one-day course is still running 4 years on, and
has helped me keep my head above water financially when
other aspects of my career were experiencing lean times.

The search business appealed to me on a number of different
levels; the people I work with are interesting, the actual
business of carrying out searches is often fascinating, and
there are people willing to pay for my services. On top of
all that I am home-based and write most of my legitimate
expenses off against taxes. But what made it really work
for me was that I was actually interested in building that
business from the start.

Yet I couldn’t say that about the majority of the
opportunities I was being bombarded with. When confronted
with yet another “no-brainer” of an
opportunity, I would sometimes beat myself up for not
getting involved; I thought I must be a failure and
destined never to be successful at anything as I just
wasn’t “getting it”.

With the benefit of hindsight, I can honestly say that if I
had been genuinely interested in something, I could have
got involved with more energy and commitment than perhaps I
otherwise would have done with something that just seemed
like a good idea at the time.

A case in point: imagine my excitement when I was presented
recently with an opportunity to get involved in something
that ticks virtually all the boxes in my qualification
checklist. Tick one: a new business being formed with
seasoned, trusted and successful owners with vast
experience at the helm. Tick two: a software product that I
can use myself as it would help me make money in my main
hobby of trading the financial markets. Tick three: an
incredibly generous compensation plan that would get even
the most jaded campaigner off his or her lethargic derriere.

Talk about seeing health and happiness emerging from the
generation of wealth!

The combination of a genuinely top-notch product coupled
with the opportunity to sell that product and make a great
living at the same time is proving irresistible. Here are
the essentials:

First of all, a powerful, unique and simple-to-use piece of
software that generates special indicators to give traders
an edge when opening and closing trades for maximum profit.
Even experienced traders are amazed at how the program
cuts through the complexities and reduces the situation
down to a simple decision about when to trade or not. Full
training is provided along with a 7-day free trial. In my
opinion the management have got this right from the outset;
just giving tips about when to trade (such as in the case
of tipster services) lets a man eat for a day, but teaching
him how to trade by using the best tools available can set
him up for life.

Secondly, if I like the product enough I can become a
business agent and make money by attracting new customers.
This puts my destiny into my own hands which is a very
energising experience once the power of the product and the
power of the network are realised.

Finally, my favourite feature of all is the business
support provided by the company Head Office. There are so
many invaluable tools available that there has to be
something for everyone regardless of their approach to
building their business. Individually customised websites
and a voice mail service are features that feature highly
for me. In conclusion, I have found a business that
surpasses my expectations of both product value and
potential income levels. There is work to be done, there
are no silver spoons on offer; but consistent and
persistent effort will ensure success in my opinion. If
only I knew about this years ago.

What is Network Marketing?

What is Network Marketing?
Every day, millions of people click online for a variety of
reasons. From researching information to finding a date,
the internet seems to offer just about everything. Work and
employment has by no means taken the back burner. Thousands
of people are clamoring to the internet everyday in an
attempt to earn a daily income, make some money, or get
financially free. And it is being proven time and time
again that "there is money to be made on the internet".

From research projects, to software engineering, the
younger and eager generation is presented with a boundless
array of opportunities to show off their intellectual
properties. Certainly, there is no shortage of work or
possibilities online since cyberspace is "virtually"
limitless.

But what about investments, network marketing and the vast
array of "get rich quick" schemes? Do they really work? Can
you really trade in your measly $20.00 for a comfortable
paycheck of $2000.00 to $5000.00 per month? The answer is
"yes and no".

Let's take a brief moment to examine network marketing. As
a network marketer, you are selling something that you
already own--a membership to a website in most cases. Let's
say you pay $19.95 to become a member of company "Make You
a Star Dot Com". Your $19.95 will be payment for the
product (usually information, training and marketing
tools). On top of that, you have the potential of making
money by "referring others" to the company "Make You a Star
Dot Com". When they join by clicking on your affiliate
link, they are placed in your "downline" and you earn a
fraction of their membership fee... as well as the
membership fee of the people they sponsor--up to five
levels deep.

Many people are of the misconception that the membership
fee of $19.95 is paid for an income opportunity alone. And
that they need to sit back and wait for the checks to start
coming in. Of course, it wouldn't be off the mark to say
that these people were deceived into thinking so. Many
network marketers do not place emphasis on the value of the
product they are selling in their advertising campaigns, or
what the product really is or offers. All they tout is the
potential to make money just by joining. This is an
impractical proposition--if everyone pays 19.95 to receive
$5000.00, where does the money come from?

A typical network marketing company may offer a cutting
edge training center prepared by experts aimed at making an
entrepreneur out of you. It will give you all the tools,
advice and information you need to run a successful
business, online or off. It may include sections for
example on "setting up a legal entity", "bookkeeping and
accounting", "ecommerce and merchant tools", "self
improvement", "real estate" etc.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you join a
network marketing company, by all means, make use of what
you are paying for. Go into the training center, or
resources section, or back office, or whatever you call it,
and max it out...get your money's worth. The "two thousand
to five thousand dollars per month" will come on the side!

In order to become a successful network marketer and earn a
six figure income in the least amount of time, any "Guru"
will tell you that you need to understand how to use an
autoresponder programmed with a newsletter, ezine or follow
up emails. It is an established fact that people tend not
to buy into a program on the first pitch. So if you're
thinking of investing your precious time into this
lucrative field of business, think "autoresponder, follow
up messages, and subscribers". At first, learning how to
use such tools might seem like a daunting task, but like
most computer technology, once you get to know it, it
becomes pretty simple and transparent.

A typical network marketing company will also provide
training, tools and resources on how to recruit others into
the company. These may include autoresponder training,
Google tutorials, web design and various other advertising
strategies. However, to avoid the mass of confusion and
possible wastage of money associated with first starting
off in network marketing, it is best to join under a
successful network marketer who will show you exactly how
to copy his/her success in a no-nonsense, simple and step
by step process.

How-To Cash In on the Internet Bandwagon

How-To Cash In on the Internet Bandwagon
Every now and again, a big deal will go through, and people
who have never seriously considered an internet business,
start thinking about their own online business.

The Google – YouTube deal is just one such deal.

Chad Hurley and Steve Chen started YouTube “in their
garage” – likely in their living room office
– but a “garage start-up” sounds so cool.
Hurley and Chen started their website only 20 months before
Google bought it for $1.65 billion. That is $825 million
each for 20 months work, or $41.25 million dollars each for
every month they were in operation!

All of us dream the big dream, but then reality sets in.
Few of us can look forward to earning $40 million per
month. While you can probably count the people who have on
two hands, there are still thousands more people who have
managed to turn their online business into a million dollar
a year business.

Most people who start an online business might dream of
making one million per year, but most would be happy just
to earn enough to leave their day job behind them. Some
would even be happy to earn just enough to pay their car
payment or to save for their kid’s college tuition
fees. All are worthy goals, and the good news is that all
are within the reach of most people who strive to reach
them.

Learning How To Play The Game

As with any great endeavor in life, there is a process one
must follow in order to be successful.

The first step is learning how to play the game.

The beauty of starting an online business is that the
internet is driven by information. If you have a desire to
learn about something, then you will find someone on the
internet who is willing to teach you about the topic you
wish to learn. You can literally find information available
on any topic, some of it free and some of it available for
a small fee.

Online Business Structures

There are four primary business structures on the internet:

1. Product Sales

2. Service Sales

3. Membership Websites

4. Advertising Platforms

Product sales include both hard goods and digital items.
Examples of hard goods include food, clothing, car parts,
books and music. Examples of digital items include
electronic books and software.

Within these four primary platforms, there are several ways
to accomplish each business process. For example, with a
Product Sales driven website, you can opt to use: a direct
sales website, an online auction system, or an affiliate
sales format. With Service sales, you can use the direct
sales website or the affiliate sales format.

Affiliate sales systems are akin to Reseller sales systems.
There really is one difference between an affiliate sales
system and a reseller program.

With an affiliate program, you will direct the buyer to the
seller’s real website – through a special
tracking URL that is only available to you – to make
their actual purchase, and you as the affiliate will be
paid on a monthly schedule for the sales that you have
generated.

With the reseller program, the source company will remain
hidden in the background. You will make the sale, collect
the money from the buyer, and then you will process the
sale through a private access point on the seller’s
website.

The concept behind the membership program is that people
will rent access to a private area of your website.

The most well known advertising platform of course is the
search engine. They make their money when someone else buys
advertising. Other such sites include news or general
information websites.

While the big boys make up the immediately recognizable
websites based on the advertising platform, many small
publishers are making a good living by providing
advertising driven websites.

Low-Cost Entry Point

Forget going out and renting an office for $900 per month.
Forget about having to set up utilities in your home and at
your office. This is another one of the beauties of an
online business. You really do not need to have a costly
storefront in order to go into business for yourself.

If you go the online auction route, you will not need to
have a website at all. But you may need the extra room in
your house or in your garage to handle storage of the
product you will be selling, unless you go the
drop-shipping route.

The idea behind a drop-shipper is that you can register
with a wholesaler. Then you can sell single-piece items to
your customers, and process the order through the
wholesaler in the same way you would through a reseller
program. When you buy the product from the wholesaler, you
will give them the direct shipping address of your
customer, and the wholesaler will put your shipping label
on the package. When your customer receives the product, by
all appearances, that product will have come from your
warehouse. To find drop-shippers who serve your choice
product lines, you should sign up for a lifetime membership
at World Wide Brands for their drop-shipper locator
service: http://www.worldwidebrands.com/

In any other business model, you should seriously consider
registering your own domain name, even if you intend to
utilize the affiliate sales systems. The costs of pursuing
this route are minimal. You can expect to spend $20-30
buying ownership of your own domain name for one year, and
you can generally get a web hosting account (where you
actually manage and store your domain) for anywhere from
$30-50 per month.

Low Knowledge Threshold

Many web-hosting companies offer a HTML editing tool within
their domain management interface that lets you build and
design your website’s pages.

The beauty of these HTML editing tools is that you do not
have to know how to build actual webpages. You simply type
what you want into the editing interface, highlight what
you want to put in bold print, and then click a little
button that converts your highlighted text to bold print.
The same processes apply for links to other webpages, and a
wide variety of text formatting options. It is so easy,
even a caveman could do it.

Mix-and-Match For Best Results

The lowest-cost systems for your first website is between
the advertising platform, and product and service sales
through affiliate programs. The best benefit for each of
these three options is that you will not need to build your
own online payment systems. That is a real advantage when
you are just starting to get your feet wet.

For advertising systems, many people today utilize the
Google Adsense system to put paid advertising on their
website. To get involved using Google Adsense, you simply
need to get your website approved by the Google staff, and
then you copy a piece of code they give you and put that
code into your webpages. You can generally get
Google’s approval in three to five days. And then,
once you apply Google’s code to your webpage, you
will be able to get paid for advertising on your website
immediately.

Affiliate programs work in the same way. You get registered
with the affiliate’s website, and then they will give
you a small piece of code that you can copy-and-paste and
put directly into your website. Once again, you could be
earning money from your visitors beginning the same day you
put the affiliate code on your website.

My best advice is to not rely on only one system for making
money.

Google Adsense pays you every time someone clicks an
advertisement on your website (don’t do this
yourself, or Google will terminate your account with them).
Because Google is paying you for traffic that you send to
their advertisers, you will only get paid based on a
percentage of what Google collects from their client for
that visitor. In some cases, we are talking about pennies
per visitor.

With affiliate programs, you could literally make $2 or
$200 for one sale.

I believe that if you are getting into an internet business
on the advertising platform, you should not rely only on
Google Adsense, nor should you rely only on your affiliate
programs. But together, both systems on your website could
provide a significant income for you.

Google vs webmasters and Google is losing

Google vs webmasters and Google is losing
The battle for top ranking the major search engines, is one
that’s ongoing on a daily basis with a top Google
ranking being the number one target.

There are whole business models build out of getting a top
ranking in Google and to a smaller extend, the other major
search engines.

You could say Google has unknowingly created billions in
business turnover, from others trying to outwit them.

In the battle of getting rankings which has turned to the
power of links, has launched full services around this
concept. Its not new just more obvious now especially due
to the explosion of blogging.

Some of theses services buy and sell text links. In the
same way ebay does, it’s a matter of bringing
together buyers and sellers. Now link pricing has be set in
several ways: a single purchase cost using services like
payperpost.com and reviewme.com blog post services, or a
pay per month option which is used by other services such
as text link brokers and many other providers.

Now most of the pricing is based on Page Rank of the pages
the links are on. Recently Google updated its page rank and
many sites took a major nosedive. Now we are talking about
the dropping of a PR 10 down to a PR 6 which happened to a
site called statcounter.

Statcounter.com is a free web based statistics program
which allows you get good statistics on traffic for your
website.

The best feature is being able to hide any display of its
counter on your page. I recently found out that even if the
counter display is hidden- it still creates focused text
links back to its home page (that’s another whole
story)

Now some quick research into statcounter after the PR drop-
they still rank for over 500 different competitive 2 and 3
word keywords. So the PR drop would have no effect on
traffic at all. They do sell text links and this has been
suggested as a reason for the drop in page rank (to
discourage this action)

The dropping of PR is most likely just an adjustment of its
numbers- it’s happened before and will probably
happen again- and quote a well known SEO company:

“My guess is that the toolbar PR penalty is just that
-- a lowering of visible PR in order to make a
statement”

If sites keep rising in PR then it has no value. So
it’s like a re-valuing of a dollar under inflation.

If you are not selling text links, it won’t really
effect you. This fits together with Googles recent
statements about the selling of text links as they do not
approve if they are purchased for the sole purpose of
influencing search results (which most if not all are)

Google has come out an said that no follow tags should be
placed on these links and also asked for webmasters to
report sites that are selling links. This tells me that
they are getting desperate to stop “the purchase
links for rank” sites.

So is buying links a good thing or not?. Well Google is
against it, however if its done correctly and not abused
like some have, it’s a win-win for blog owners and
business owners.

Like most SEO it should not be the only method of getting
links, however it could be used well by those with
reasonable budget and long term business plan. I
don’t pass judgement on whether I agree or disagree
whether it is the “right” thing to do. The
type of links and how to buy is a whole other
article……
