Let me tell you a story about a recent purchase I made....

Like many women, I consider Sephora to be "the place" for
beauty products. On one of my many trips to Sephora I
bought a bag full of stuff (which I hoped my husband
wouldn't see - he doesn't need to know I need all this
stuff). I had creams and lotions and I was excited about
the success of my trip.

When I got home I snuck the bag in the house and up to the
bathroom to put it all away, and then went on with my day.

That night when it came time to get ready for bed, I saw
all my great new bottles and jars and tubes of expensive
skin care and I realized I wasn't 100% sure which product
to use at night versus the morning and various other things
that confused me. So, what did I do? I picked up my old
cleanser and moisturizer and used those. Not even opening
the new products I just bought.

Many of you are thinking why did I bother buying them?

The reason is the store made them look good, there was a
pretty display, some promised benefits and a pretty sales
lady telling me it was perfect for my skin type.

So, you may be thinking what's the problem here; they made
a sale - they should be happy.

BUT think about this - isn't it so much easier to get
repeat business than it is to get new business? (The
answer to that question is yes) Yet why would I buy another
product from the line when I wasn't even sure how to use
the first one???

The problem here is consumption. People buy products but
they often (more often then you would think) don't consume
them. They may be confused, they may forget about the
product once they get it home, they may be too busy - there
are countless reasons why. The bottom line is, in order to
get me hooked and get me back in the store they need to
make sure I consume the first product I bought and fall in
love with it.

This problem exists in all industries. Have you ever
bought a book and then not read it? Have you bought a home
study course and not completed it? Bought a tape series
and not listened to it? My overflowing closet tells me I
have. It all ends up in there for me to get to "one day."

I might have wanted it more than anything, I might be
busting at the seams for a package to arrive in the mail.
But life kicks in and I get busy and one day turns into
another day and then its weeks and the excitement for the
product is gone.

OK, I think I've harped on the problem long enough. Now
let's look at the solution....

In the case of my bag of beauty products what do you think
they could have done to guide me towards using the product?

There are probably many creative ideas, but I'll just throw
out a few of them as samples....

1. They could have included an instruction sheet telling
me exactly when and how to use it. And I don't mean the
small print directions on the jar itself. An actual pretty
full color sheet with pictures of beautiful women (to
remind me I can look like them with this product) and a
recap of the benefits and then very easy step by step
instructions. If I had that, I would have definitely used
it.

2. They could include a CD for me to listen to in the car
on the way home with great skin care tips and information.

3. They could have had a product rep in the store to teach
me how to use the product and answer my questions.

None of that guarantees I will go home and use the product,
but it makes it much more likely. And short of going to
the home of each of your clients and forcing them to
consume your product, all you can do is think of the
biggest factor that would stop people from consuming your
product and try to address that issue.

When you sell something online, you collect their email
address so at the very least they should be added to your
customer list and you should be emailing them with tips on
getting the most out of the product and reminding them they
need to really dig into it to get the benefits and then
restate the benefits.

You can offer them a discount on their next order or even
some other free gift if they use your product and give you
feedback within a certain amount of time. You are killing
two birds with one stone there - you give them the
incentive to consume and you are securing a testimonial.

I urge you not to overlook this important concept. Your
job isn't done once you have the sale.

Once you have them consuming your product - you can sell
them other products, sell renewals/refills of what they
originally bought and so much more.

So remember - just because someone wants something -
doesn't mean they will use it.

Remember to focus on teaching consumption to your customers
and building your business through repeat visitors.

In this article I am going to discuss how you can employ
some useful tools in a clever way to increase the
efficiency of submitting articles and publishing content
for syndication. But first we need to understand some of
the popular strategies that are being used today, why
article marketing works in the first place, and an
important term called a "duplicate content filter."

One of the popular methods that bloggers or webmasters will
use in order to get more traffic to their website is to
create a detailed post about their topic or niche and then
submit that same post for syndication in article
directories. While syndicating content can be a good way to
increase exposure and gain more incoming links, by doing
this it is also possible to get slapped with a duplicate
content penalty.

The duplicate content filter is something that major search
engines recently introduced after the widespread use of
link spamming to artificially boost search engine rankings.
Link spam is where a webmaster will create numerous copies
of a single web page and post them on different domain
names in order to increase the number of incoming links to
his website. But since this is an artificial way to get
more links (as opposed to having various websites link to
you on their on accord), it is considered to be a
manipulation of the search engine algorithms and is frowned
upon.

As soon as the major search engines like this realized that
web pages that were irrelevant and filled with
advertisements were gaining top rankings due to link spam,
they went to work devising a filter that would block all
identical pages from being listed, along with any of the
pages that they link to (thereby eliminating the artificial
rankings that these web pages would get).

In order for a large search engine like Google to return
relevant results, they must employ a web robot to "crawl"
around the internet and save a copy of every single web
page that it finds. This collection of saved pages is
called the 'cache,' and every time you go to a search
engine and type in a keyword, it will search through the
cache of stored web pages and deliver the one that is the
most relevant to your search and has the most incoming
links (an incoming link is considered to be a "vote" that a
certain web page is good, and therefore worth linking to).

Well if the Google bot happens to come across a web page
that is an identical copy of some other page, the duplicate
content filter comes into play and it will make sure that
only one copy of this web page is displayed on the search
engine results page. But which one to choose?

The search engine is going to brand one of the web pages as
the original, and then all other copies of it are going to
be subsequently blocked. A few of the factors that
determine which page is branded as the original are when it
was created, the link strength or Pagerank of the website,
and the relevancy of the domain name.

So how does this apply to your article marketing and
content syndication? Well if you were to submit the same
piece of content to multiple different directories and
syndicated feeds, many of those pages are going to end up
getting slapped by the duplicate content filter since they
are basically carbon copies of each other. The ideal way
to avoid this would be to create a unique piece of content
to submit to every source, but that would be extremely time
consuming.

The way that you can save time and also avoid the duplicate
content filter is to use a tool called a "duplicate content
checker." By using this kind of tool, instead of creating a
new article from scratch, you can re-write small parts of
your existing article and check it to make sure that it is
unique enough that it will not be branded as duplicate
content. This way, instead of spending 30-50 minutes
coming up with a brand new article, you can spend only
around 3-5 minutes by creating a slightly altered version
that will not appear to be an identical copy.

By doing this you can increase the effectiveness of your
article marketing and content syndication, because you can
rework each article you submit in just a few minutes so
that it will overcome the duplicate content filter, and
more pages displaying links back to your website will rank
high in the search engines.

Multiple MLMs - Does It Work?
If you have been involved in a network marketing business,
you will be told by your top leaders that you should stick
to one company because you have to believe the one you are
in is the best. But is this really the best way to secure
your future? After debating this subject for years, I have
developed an interesting angle on this debate.

When I got serious about MLM, I started building an
organisation. I folllowed everyone up. I sent out regular
newsletters by snail mail. I travelled extensively. I ran
home presentations and company meetings. After 18 months of
pretty consistent work, my income grew to $1,300. Then
something happened. Someone in my organisation 4 levels
down took off with the business. While this seems great, it
meant their volume broke away from mine and I lost a whole
lot of bonuses. The next month I earned just $600. I was
devastated!

My sponsor had the idea of a portfolio of businesses. I
followed him and joined a number of other companies. When
income from the first one dropped so dramatically, I lost
interest and decided to focus on another business. This one
grew to $3,600 a month. Then my upline started poaching my
downline for another business. That started a steady
decline in one line, which has steadily eroded the income
to $1,300 a month or less.

In 2005 I came across Mike Dillard and Magnetic Sponsoring.
What he said made sense so I joined the program and
purchased his book. I made a profit for about a year and
built a list of 150 or so. Some of you reading this might

Well, on call one we were told that the sole purpose of

one investment or business fails, they are still OK because
they have other sources of income. Let's face it, if you
have a job and you get laid off at over 50, there is a good
chance you won't get another. If your MLM company goes
broke, or something happens to remove a large chunk of your
organisation, and you are solely reliant on that for your
financial future, where do you stand if this happens? It is
not a pretty picture.

Having decided to follow Mike's advice, I took another look
at what I was doing. No more blindly following one thing.
Now I would look at each business and see how I could build
it best. That is how I came up with my Customer Acquisition
System (CAS) idea. You see I now have 3 MLM businesses plus
another internet business. They are all profitable and all
pay me in excess of $1,000US every month. I am building
them through marketing products and they all grew during
January. Even if one failed, I would still be in good
financial shape.

up, get it on autopilot and then work on the second. The
