6 Things To Know Before You Start An Internet Marketing Business

6 Things To Know Before You Start An Internet Marketing Business
Are you ready to start an internet marketing business? Here
are 6 things you should consider when starting an internet
business of your own.

1. Even though you are doing your business at home and on
the internet you may have other costs. Those could include
getting it up and running such as a table or desk to work
on, chairs, a phone, file cabinet, bookshelf, paper, pens,
and paper clips. You will need a computer, possibly a
printer, computer paper, and so on.

2. You may have more time than money. Others will have more
money than time. It is cheap to set up an internet
business, but you have to deal with your own set of
circumstances and build it from where you are starting.

3. You will need hosting for a website or blog, a domain
name, and someone to build your own website. It may even be
you, or you can hire someone to do it for you at places
like eLance.com. One other thing that all successful
internet marketers do is build a mailing list using an
autoresponder company such as GetResponse.

This is perhaps the most important step and should not be
skipped. Building a mailing list is as simple as offering
something for free in exchange for contact info from your
prospect. The long term benefits of having a mailing list
of thousand of names you can market to is obvious.

4. Be sure and include quality graphics on your website.
This will make it look more professional. Add a blog and
really begin to gain momentum quickly by adding a comments
sections and other things like video, audio, and polls to
make it really interactive.

5. Someone in your company will have to learn to write. You
will be replying to email and adding fresh content to your
site or blog if you get one. fresh content is what makes an
internet business advance beyond that of the competition.

You can hire a good ghostwriter if you do not like to
write, or do not have time to do it. The important thing is
to build an internet business by offering many pages on
content relating to many different keywords people are
searching for products on. If you do that you will be a
success.

6. Finally be prepared to become an expert on getting
traffic to your site. Without visitors you will not make
any money in your new internet marketing business.

Why I Wish Starting An Internet Marketing Business Were Harder To Do

Why I Wish Starting An Internet Marketing Business Were Harder To Do
If starting an Internet marketing business were harder more
people would not do it. This article is a different way of
looking at the topic of using the Internet to make money
with your own business.

I happen to believe that anyone can start a business on the
internet and very few ever get beyond the start up phase.

As you surf around you immediately see all of the
guaranteed ways to get started and make money. I see ads
leading to websites that are so silly it is hard to believe
someone actually took the time to type them.

No selling, no sponsoring, no work, free to join, never pay
anything, get rich, earn $1000's, and so on. Everyone of
these things could be true at some point in an Internet
business, but not when you first start out.

So what are some of the reasons starting an Internet based
business will be easy to set up and hard to make money with.

1. You do not know what you do not know! Making money
online takes skills. None of these are so hard to master
that you can not do them.

All of them are so hard to stick with that you may give up
before you ever start making money. There is a learning
curve to Internet marketing. If you are the type of person
who can learn and is willing to work at implementing what
you learn then by all means jump in.

2. Your focus, or lack of it, will kill you. I know this
from personal experience. Keeping your eye on the ball is
hard to do when working on the Internet.

Between pop-ups, all of the emails offering the next sure
thing, and distractions at home, it is hard to get any real
work done.

3. Getting visitors to a website or blog is the hardest
thing you will do. I don't care if you are doing pay per
click advertising, article marketing, social bookmarking,
forum marketing, or standing on the corner of a busy
intersection yelling out your website address.

Even crappy little websites and blogs make money if they
have enough traffic and one decent product to sell. This
has been proved over and over by website full of poor
content and Google Adsense ads. None of these earn what
they used to, but all of them still make money if they have
enough traffic.

The best advice I can give you on starting an Internet
marketing business is put together a plan and then stick to
it. If you will write a daily to do list you will get a lot
done. If you write short term and long term goals, and read
them everyday, you stand an excellent chance of staying
focused.

This article has not been about the mechanics of starting
an Internet marketing business. Nor has it been about
choosing a product to sell.

Understanding what you are getting into is just as
important as wasting time on all of the other stuff. You
are going to have to learn Internet marketing skills,
traffic skills, and how to stay focused. If you are willing
to do that you can make money like the rest of us.

Home Business Ideas for Internet Beginners

Home Business Ideas for Internet Beginners
If you are looking for a home business then there are many
opportunities online. The way most people start out is to
sell products for other people through a program known as
affiliate marketing. By doing this they earn an average of
50% of the sales price of the product, and it is a good way
for you to start if you don’t have a product.

However, it takes a long time to make a lot of money since
you have to develop a number of websites and sell a lot of
different products. Another way is to develop a product of
your own. If you know a lot about a particular subject you
could perhaps write an ebook about it, and offer it on your
website. I say website, because you definitely need a
website if you are to make it online with a home business.

Very few people are successful with only one website, and
most of the successful internet marketers have lots of
small sites called minisites, that are designed
specifically as a sales page for one product. They launch a
new product on a periodic basis, each with its own mini
sales web site. The most successful have many products,
since very few people can make enough money to work at home
with only one product.

That’s where it gets difficult because many of these
guys are a whiz at programming, and they can produce a new
piece of software to sell at the drop of a hat. Others
have had years of experience, and sell books teaching
others how to do what they do. You, however, are unlikely
to have either that experience or the programming ability
to create your own product. You might be able to write an
ebook about your personal niche, but you will only sell so
many and would have to keep writing book after book to
maintain an income. So what is left for you?

Well, there is one possibility that many people are turning
to. In fact, the more people that do turn to it, the better
it could be for you. If you are reasonable at selling
stuff, or are a good communicator, then multilevel network
marketing could be the opportunity you have been seeking.
You might have heard of companies such as Time Life Books
or Amway. These are examples of successful network
marketing companies. To be successful, such a company
should have a good product for you to sell, because there
is no foundation for a business with a poor product.

There is more to it than that of course, since that is the
objective of all companies. However, in network marketing
you also recruit your own team to sell for you. You are
responsible for your team: responsible for mentoring them
and training them. You also get a proportion of the sales
of every individual in your team. However, that is only
the start, because there is more.

Each individual in your team is also encouraged to start up
their own team by introducing others to join the company.
This is where the ‘multi level’ comes into
play, because you also get a proportion of the sales of
that level 2 team. Not just of your own recruits, but also
a proportion of the sales of each of their recruits. This
can go down to very deep levels, and you have the potential
to make a lot of money.

The amount you make depends on the work you put into your
MLM home business. If you sit back and wait for it to
happen, you will earn nothing. However, if you work hard at
it, and introduce as many new members to the program as
possible, then you will succeed. You should also make sure
that you keep following up with them, and maintain their
training. Give them the tools to sell the product and
recruit more members and not only will you succeed, but you
will help them to succeed also.

Keep in mind that the more successful your team is, then
the more successful you will be. Like you will be given
yourself, you should give them a website to sell the
products on (that is provided by the company) and also
promotional and advertising material to help them both sell
product and recruit members.

You will have noted that I have mentioned the dreaded words
‘work hard’ somewhere here, when you likely
heard that an online home business is an easy way to make
money. If that were true then everybody would be doing it!
In fact it is not easy, but the harder you work at it the
easier it becomes. The secret is to recruit as many members
as you can, and then start up another business as soon as
your current one is running on maintenance mode.

That is when the business is running smoothly and bringing
in money without too much personal input other than sending
off a few personal emails now and again, while your
autoresponders do the bulk of the work. Then you can work
on another project, and once you have multiple streams of
income flooding into your bank account, then you will know
that your home business has been a success.

Three Reasons Why They Hate Your Internet Web Site Design

Three Reasons Why They Hate Your Internet Web Site Design
As you surf the internet, you cannot help but be impressed
by the sheer variety of the different websites. People can
be very creative. A good web site design draws the visitor
in, puts a stamp of individuality on that particular site
and raises your online profile.

Then, there is the other side of the coin. A web site page
that looks as if not much thought or planning went into the
design. It is a mess from the word go; however beauty is in
the eyes of the beholder and web visitors maybe willing to
overlook the fact that the site was not designed by
Picasso. What they will not overlook is a web site page
that just flat out annoys them.

There are some things you can do in the designing of your
website that will not get under the skin of your visitors.

1. Where Are They Going?

You go to a web site page that looks nice and has good
content on it. You decide to explore further but you
cannot. Why? Because you are having a hard time finding the
navigation bar. When you do find it, you are taking to a
page in which you have to hunt for the right link to take
you to the desired information. By the time you do figure
out the navigation scheme, you forgot what you were looking
for.

Nobody comes online to get trapped in the Matrix. People
want information and they want it quickly. Give them a
simple clear easily accessible menu panel, which takes them
immediately to the information they want. Also make sure
no matter how deeply people explore your website, there are
clearly defined guidepost on each page which can take them
back to where they started.

This is also a good place to talk about over clicking.
Having your visitors click multiple times to get where they
want to go is an excellent way to tick people off. Do
everything in your power to get them to the information
they want in one click; three at the most. Anything after
that is just inviting them to click away from your site.

2. The Multimedia Show.

People love video and quality graphics but their first
priority is to get information. If your graphics are not an
integral and necessary part of your web page display, get
rid of them. Keep in mind not everyone has a high speed
internet connection. Excessive graphics and multimedia
presentations can slow down the load time of your website
substantially. People will just go to another site instead
of being inconvenienced. Dazzle visitors with the content
on your site first and foremost.

3. Fonts and Colors.

There are few things online tougher on the eyes than a
poorly thought out font style and color scheme. The number
one goal of your web design is to get visitors to read the
information. If people have to constantly decipher your web
content then they will not bother. Stick with a basic
design. Your color and font style should compliment each
other while affording maximum readability to your visitors.

There will never be a time when your website pleases
everyone. That is just the way it is so do not waste your
time trying to create the perfect internet web site design.
It does not exist. Instead focus on a site with easy
navigation, which is readable, fast loading and above all
contains good content. You may not satisfy everyone who
visits your website but the majority will no doubt like
what they see and read.

Six Ways to Add a Personal Touch to Your Website

Six Ways to Add a Personal Touch to Your Website
Setting yourself apart from your competition should be
first and foremost in your mind when you're starting an
online business. Whether you realize it or not, it's not
always about the quality of your products or your services
that gets people interested in you – it's how you
make them feel once they're on your site. What you need is
to add a personal touch to your site that makes a visitor
feel like they're the most important person in the world to
you. Here's how:

Add Your Business History

By telling the story of your business and how it came to
be, you begin to show the customer that you're not just
another seller that wants to make money. You began as a
person with a dream that you wanted to see fulfilled, you
worked hard, and here you are, showing what you learned
along the way. Talk about any inspirations that you had as
you were growing as a business – and if there is a
personal anecdote you can share, that's all the better.

State Your Purpose

Too often, business websites simply present the items or
services they want to sell and think that's enough to get
people to turn over their credit cards – but it
isn't. Try to state somewhere on your website why you are
selling what you are selling. Maybe you had problems like
the ones your product or service will help or maybe you
simply have a drive to help people do something better.
Think about what drives you to be in the business you're in
and then tell your customers.

Add Your Picture

By simply adding a picture of yourself, you will begin to
create a personal touch to your website. Instead of just
being the 'voice' of the website, you will become a real
person they can see. In the world of virtual business
transactions, this is crucial to setting yourself apart.
Instead of simple remembering you for what you sell, the
customer will remember what you look like.

Create a Personal Blog

Some business websites have taken it a step further by
adding a personal blog that details the goings on of their
personal life. This further adds a sense of camaraderie
between the seller and the buyer. It allows the buyer to
feel more like a friend of the seller, rather than another
customer. This blog can contain anything from news about
the family or the business or perhaps observations about
the world.

Use Your Customer's Name Whenever Possible

Whether it's in their actual transaction or when you're
emailing your customers, be sure to use their name whenever
you can. Writing emails or advertisements to 'Dear Friend'
can seem cold and heartless. Talk to your web page
designer about ways to ensure that the name of your
customer will pop up whenever they visit your site. This
might require the visitor to sign in so that this works,
but at the same time, you can entice them with special
offers for that shared information.

Use a Scanned Signature

Try adding a scanned picture of your signature at the
bottom of your website or within the transaction process.
Though the customer is going to realize that signature
isn't 'real,' it shows that you are concerned about
interacting in the way a normal 'live' business would. Try
adding it at the end of invoices or in the front page where
you directly address the site visitor.

When you go out of your way to make your website seem more
personal, you will ensure that customers come back to visit
again.

List Building Made Easy

List Building Made Easy
Entrepreneurs know that it is critical to their business
that they develop a substantial database of clients.
Because of this, business owners now rely on list building
to network their companies and products online.

List building has become such an important part of online
marketing that business owners have started aligning
themselves together so that they can share their list of
contacts. The more contacts that you have, the more
people's email addresses you will have available to you.
The more contacts that you have, the more business you will
be able to perform.

So what are some steps that will make list building an easy
proposition for your business?

Start Simple

An easy way to break into list building is by getting the
contact information of your friends and family. From that
point you can begin to grow your list by adding the friends
and family of your personal contacts. This is an easy,
casual, and efficient way to begin building your list
without spending any money to do so.

Create A Lead Capture Page

The next step is to develop an effective lead capture page
that generates leads. A lead capture page is a simple, one
page website that gives a snapshot of you and your company.
The site should have a place for the prospect to enter
their contact info. After the prospect enters their info,
you can add them to your list.

Keep It Simple

Make certain that it is simple for your prospect to enter
in their info. If the process to sign up is difficult, your
prospect may lose interest and not finish. You'll do
yourself a huge favor by expediting the process. Important
info for you to capture on your site is their name, email
address, home or cell phone, and fax if applicable. Short,
sweet, and to the point.

Allow People A Way Out

While your main goal is to increase the size of your list,
it is also courteous to provide people with a way out. If
someone truly does not want to be a part of your list
anymore, allow them to opt out. This ensures that your list
is only comprised of a group of people who want to now what
is happening with your business.

These are some simple and inexpensive ways to build your
list fast. Once you begin the networking process, you will
be amazed at how fast your list will develop.
