5 Tips for Improving Your Search Engine Placement

5 Tips for Improving Your Search Engine Placement
In this article we want to talk about strategies for
getting traffic from the search engines. This does require
some skill, and hopefully we can help you with a few tips
for improving your search engine placement that will
attract organic searches in traffic to your site.

There is no better traffic on the Internet than to have
visitors coming to your site because they found you when
they were specifically searching for what you offer. One
way to do that is to do a pay per click advertising
campaign and buy your way onto page one of a search engine.
Another way to do it is to earn your way on what is known
as an organic search.

So how do you do that?

1. The first thing you need to do is identify what your
competition is doing. Most websites will allow you to look
at their homepage, right click with your mouse, click on
view source, and then you can see the meta tags, which
include keywords that they are targeting.

2. The next step is to develop a very comprehensive keyword
list of your own. You can start by using the primary key
words that your competitors are using. Then you can begin
to develop a list of what we call long tail keyword phrases
from those.

Longtail keyword phrases are phrases that are three to four
words or more in length. You can go to Wordtracker.com and
enter your primary keywords to start building a list, and
you can also use the Google keyword tool website as well.
Regardless of how you do it you want to begin to develop a
list of several hundred keywords.

3. The next thing you want to do is to begin to use those
keywords in all of your marketing efforts. Your goal is to
develop back links to your homepage, inner pages, and blog
posts by hyperlinking your keyword phrase to each specific
page. It is important that every page your hyperlinking to
target each specific phrase or keyword.

You do this by creating content that is built around each
individual keyword phrase. For example, if you do a blog
post you would want to title it with the keyword phrase in
the title, in the introduction and closing paragraphs, and
then use variations of it in the body of the article.

4. It is important that you take each page and get those
out on the Internet. You can do this via article marketing
to some of the top article directories, and you should
socially bookmark each post to some of the top social
directories as well.

This becomes search engine bait, which is the key to
getting your website, blog posts, and inner pages to the
top of the search engines for those specific keyword
phrases.

5. The final thing you can do is be consistent in your
efforts to improve your search engine placement. This is
not as hard as it sounds and you do not need to hire a seo
expert.

You need to work every day at getting back links targeting
hyperlinked keyword phrases and you'll find yourself a
ranking on page for as many words as you want. Use these 5
tips for improving your search engine placement and you
will see results over time.
