How Important Is Website Duplicate Content

How Important Is Website Duplicate Content
Alot is being made about website duplicate content these
days. I tend to agree that when it comes to doing article
marketing having fresh content can be a real plus. But how
important is it to avoid website duplicate content
otherwise?

Duplicate content is content that you can find on the web
already. Let's take a look at a different viewpoint of
duplicate content you might not have thought of.

There are three things that come to mind right away when it
comes to duplicate content.

1. The content is so valuable that you offer it on your
website or blog. If you're smart you'll add your own
thoughts to it a by creating an introduction and a closing.
Just offer your opinion about the content you are listing.

2. People just plain steal your content and claim it as
their own. There really is nothing good about this type of
content, for you or for them!

3. You use content in the form of an article and you give
credit for it to the original author. This could be good
for you, but the person using it really does not get a lot
of benefit out of it from a search engine standpoint.

One question that came up recently in an internet marketing
forum was how important is it that a website be different
from all the other ones. This is a good question!

There really is nothing wrong with having a website that is
similar to other peoples. Many a good website has benn
built that offers the same affiliate programs as the
competiton. And you see these websites filled with content
written by other people.

I think duplicate content is more an issue from a search
engine standpoint. But there are a number of ways to get
traffic to your website without worrying about whether a
search engine is checking to see if you are avoiding
duplicate content.

Some of these that come to mind include, traffic exchanges,
article marketing, pay per click advertising, forum
marketing, e-zine marketing, classified advertising,
blogging, social bookmarking, social networking, and so on.

These are all forms of advertising you can do on the
Internet, and really not worry about what the search
engines think of your website or the content on it. The
nice thing about this is you can get visitors and drive
traffic to your site based on doing these types of
advertising.

You are not specifically targeting search engines because
you're not worried about the content on your site, or the
content of an article, or the keywords you are targeting,
etc.

So to summarize this article on should you avoid duplicate
content here is what we have found.

The answer is really what your goal is with your website
and how you are going to promote it. The easiest way I know
to avoid duplicate content is to start your own blog and
add blog articles to it on a regular basis.

If you blog and just type your own thoughts on specific
subjects your content will always be fresh. You will always
be avoiding duplicate content anyway if you do this.

Other than that the method you choose to advertise will
determine whether duplicate content is an important issue
to your website.
